November — and Giving Tuesday, specifically — is a time for giving and gratitude. While the world continues to grapple with COVID-19, the state of pandemic has drastically changed in comparison to last year, despite the emergence of new variants. With monumental advancements in modern medicine, more than half of all Americans are protected against the virus and things are slowly transitioning back to the world we know — that alone is something to be grateful for.

Despite a deep societal yearning for a time when the world wasn’t consumed with the seemingly unceasing loss of the pandemic, many are asking: can ever go back to the way things were? In short, the answer is no. If we’re going to take serious, science-aligned action on climate change, then we cannot afford to return to a normal that prioritized profits over people and the planet.

The pandemic has taught us a lot, and one of those lessons is that a better future for our communities and environment is more than possible. With significant developments in federal climate action under the new administration, states have never been more well-positioned to pass just and equitable climate policies. At Climate XChange, we’re seizing this opportunity for action. Our team is leveraging new and existing partnerships to advance state-level efforts to reduce planet-warming emissions and construct a more prosperous and sustainable future for communities across the country.

Over the past year, we’ve authored two research reports on how Massachusetts can: 1) invest in public infrastructure and community programs in a way that prioritizes economic prosperity and sustainability; and 2) prioritize the immediate needs of communities so that they have the tools to bounce back from the pandemic stronger than ever. We’ve also authored two white papers analyzing state-level climate and environmental justice policies, which provide valuable insights into how policy and decision-makers can learn from work in other states. We’ve also written over 100 original articles, filling a critical gap in coverage of state legislatures and key developments in climate policy around the country.

We’ve also expanded our on-the-ground staff capacity and coalition building in both Massachusetts and Maryland, enabling us to strengthen grassroots efforts to pass policy in each state. And, most recently, our State Climate Policy Network (SCPN) launched its latest tool — The Dashboard — for our community of more than 15,000 legislators, advocates, business leaders, and scientists to access the latest data on climate policies in U.S. states. Our team has been able to accomplish monumental feats that wouldn’t be possible without support from our community; and for that, we thank you.

As we approach 2022, Climate XChange is looking to achieve our ambitious goals for the future and grasp the immense opportunity we have to mitigate the climate crisis before we hit irreversible tipping points. To do this, we need your support. But, here’s the good news: you can support us right now and take climate action (in under a minute!) while also giving yourself a little something, too.

Our 6th Annual Tesla Raffle is going on now, and it’s the easiest way to support our work at CXC. This year’s raffle is our biggest yet, with a Grand Prize of any model Tesla with any or all options available — as well as four chances at winning cash prizes for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th place. We’ll also cover the taxes on the Tesla, so you don’t pay a dime when you win! That means the total Grand Prize value is up to $227,615! So far, 40 percent of tickets have been purchased in under three months — meaning we might sell out before our raffle drawing on February 26th, 2022.

The transportation sector is the largest source of climate pollution in the U.S., so we love Tesla’s mission of putting zero-emission vehicles into the hands of millions of drivers. Every additional Tesla on the road is a win for the climate and a win for the future. Don’t wait to take action, enter our Tesla Raffle today to ensure your chance to win a Tesla of your choice with all the bells and whistles you could dream of.
